Interior Design
Avril has been working for over 35 years in the design industry, in both commercial and residential design, in Dublin and Amsterdam.
Graduating from The College of Marketing and Design, in 1988, Avril started off in residential design but moved quickly into Retail, Office and Hotel Design. In the early 1990s Avril worked with an Interiors Design Practice in Amsterdam and later in Dublin as the Interior Designer with the architectural practice Henry J. Lyons. In the late 90s, before moving to Amsterdam for a second time, Avril was the Interiors Consultant to House and Home magazine, working on their regular make-over article.
Television is something Avril always thought about and shortly after her return from Amsterdam she was given the opportunity of presenting Desperate Houses on RTÉ. Avril believes her experience of listening to what clients want and then translating this into smart design solutions helped her on the show.
Avril has lectured in Interior Design with the D.I.T. and with the Dublin Institute of Design. She also gives Design Seminars on a regular basis and hosted the Live Studio at the Spring House and Garden show in the RDS.
“Since returning to Ireland, I’ve noticed Irish people want to be more involved in the design of their own homes. So in answer to my client's needs, I offer a personal Interior Design Consultation. This means that I work closely with my clients’ ideas and needs”.
Avril offers an Interior Design consultancy to clients where she visits their homes and helps them to realise the full potential of their living space. Working with clients Avril advises on colour and interior finishes to help maximise the use of space and light.
